Remedying bookkeeping issues can seem like a daunting task, but they can be resolved by using a systematic approach to finding and fixing them. That's why we developed our Transaction Repair tool.

When you launch a workflow that includes Transaction Repair, you will be presented with a single list of all transactions that have one our more transaction flags inside the period you're analyzing.

To remedy these transaction flags, you can either update the transaction from inside Scrutinize and sync the change back to the ledger or mark the transaction as reviewed and fix it directly in the ledger software.

The right solution will depend on the type of flag that appears on the transaction.

Overview

When you navigate to the Transaction Repair section of a workflow, you will see three different tab on the navigation sub-header - Flagged Transactions, No Issue, and Repaired.

Flagged Transactions

The Flagged Transactions tab is central list of all transactions inside the workflow period that were flagged as having one or more potential issues. A comprehensive list of all default Transaction Flags can be found here.

To see what is wrong with a transaction, hover over the numbers in the Anomalies column or click the row to expand it, then click View to open the Transaction Edit modal.

You can also expand the transaction row, click View to open the Transaction Edit modal, and scroll to the bottom to get more information on why the transaciton was flagged and what to do to remedy the issue.

No Issue

The No Issue tab is the list of all transactions that have been Marked as Reviewed during the review process. Marking a transaction as reviewed means you have looked at the transaction and its associated transaction flags, and have chosen not to take any action in Scrutinize. This could be because the transaction does not require updating, or because you want to make the update directly in the ledger itself.

To mark a transaction as No Issue, click on the transaction row to expand it, then either select Mark as Reviewed directly in the expanded view or click View to open the Transaction Edit modal and select Mark as Reviewed there.

Repaired

The Repaired tab is a list of all transactions that have been updated in Scrutinize, but not synced back to the ledger yet. To repair a transaction, click on the transaction row to expand it, then click View to open the Transaction Edit modal.

Once in the Transaction Edit modal, scroll the the bottom for more information on why the transaction was flagged. Then update fields as needed to remedy the issue before saving the transactions.

Sync and Refresh

Once you are done marking transactions as reviewed or making updates to remedy the issues, you can click the Sync icon in the top right navigation bar to push all of your changes to the ledger and update the workflow data.
